Further to our announcement in November 2007, we are now planning to cease support for PHP4 effective Monday 14th July 2008.

After this time, any files with a .php* suffix will run under PHP5 only. The majority of customers have already upgraded any scripts to run without any intervention at all and will not notice any service issues with this upgrade.

During the upgrade process, we will also be switching from Apache1 to Apache2. Once again, this will have no effect on any existing service but will show improved page rendering times.

We will start the upgrades on all cPanel servers at 10pm on Monday 14th July 2008 for completion before 6am on Tuesday 15th July 2008.

If you have any questions, please contact support via http://my.xilo.net .

ns1.kilo.*.net (and ns2)

ns1.india.*.net (and ns2)

(* - we have removed the domain to protect our resellers)

Also, any customers that are using the following IP for any of their private nameservers will need to update to the new, permanent value.

Old : 72.21.47.31

New: 67.225.140.31

This should be changed in your zone via WHM as well as at your domain registry. If you are unsure on how to do either of these, please contact support via http://my.xilo.net/ and we’ll take care of it for you.

The old nameservers will cease to work after 1st March 2008 so it is imperative that you change these immediately. Please contact support for the new nameservers for all of your accounts if you do not have private nameservers assigned. (Once again, not posted for the protection of resellers)

If you have any questions, please do contact us.

As from 31 December 2007, support from PHP.net for version 4 of PHP will cease. We are now planning on upgrading all servers (excluding H-Sphere) to PHP5 as the default version of PHP.

This means that any scripts with the extension .php5 or .php will automatically load within PHP5.

Most popular scripts that are commonly used today (Wordpress, Gallery/G2, Wiki, Joomla, OSC) have all been updated to work with PHP5 and we would suggest that all clients and resellers ensure that these are up to date as soon as possible.

PHP4 will be loaded into the config as a fall back using the .php4 file extension. However, this will not remain in place permanently and is only provided to allow you further time to debug and correct any scripts that you may have that do not work correctly with PHP5 on the switch over date.

We will conduct these upgrades starting Saturday 8th December 2007 and ending Sunday 9th December 2007. There will be no downtime associated with these upgrades.

If you have any questions regarding the upgrade, please contact support.

In an effort to increase the level of service to all our customers, we have planned a number of upgrades to the hosting platform that you are located on in the second week of March 2005.

All servers for our shared hosting customers are currently located in Texas, USA.

We are now planning to migrate all our customers to our UK DataCenter (RedBus II, London (http://www.interhouse.net)) which has excellent connectivity and peering agreements with some of the leading ISPs in the country such as Nildram, Zen, PlusNet and Demon as well as direct peering with backbone providers such as Telecomplete, KPN and Level3.

With this migration come some further improvements relating to our hosting services;

Improved RAID1 implementation
Improved server specifications
Better network performance and response
Add-on service charges such as static IP reducing
Better value hosting plans

We fully understand that you may be worried about site downtime or loss of data during the migration and I would like to take the time to explain the migration in full.

The migration will be conducted in several parts. First, the hosting servers will be migrated, which contain the content of the websites and MySQL databases. The mail platform will be migrated shortly after.

All data will be securely copied from Texas to London and will be sent to our servers over a 128bit encrypted VPN session.

We would ask all customers that are NOT using our DNS servers (NS1.XILO.NET, NS2.XILO.NET or NS3.XILO.NET) to contact us for the new IP address(es) for your account.

After the content migration is complete, the old server will redirect all traffic to the new server for several weeks – giving all customers the chance to change their IP settings if needed. (We will also check each domain hosted on our DNS and contact any customers that are not using them).

We envisage the downtime for your hosted sites will be no longer than one (1) hour and will be conducted out of business hours. Your email services will not be affected during this time.

More information regarding our mail platform migration will follow nearer the time.

We are here to answer any questions or concerns that you may have and would like to express how excited we are at the upgrades and service improvements we have planned.

Thank you for your time and your continued business.
