One Update to “UK Network Issues”

  1. XILO Says:

Bluesquare have issued a RFO, please see below. This concludes the outage report.

“At approx 13:30 today we noticed a re-occurrence of the fault that occurred yesterday in Telehouse East, on our switch in BlueSquare House (that connects to Telecity HEX).

Following the advice of Extreme Networks we ran various diagnostic tools and found this to be the same multicast overflow stack problem, and we also managed to track down the source of the multicast traffic causing the stack overflow. This client was informed and disconnected.

This switch was then patched with the latest version of XOS to fix this issue as per Extreme Networks guidelines, which then restored stability.

We also acted upon advice to ’switch off’ the IGMP Spoofing (multicast) feature on all switches (that was the part of software that was causing the crash), which was not an essential requirement, simply a performance enhancement part of software.

We are now confident that this issue has been resolved, however we are continuing to liaise with Extreme Networks TAC for a thorough examination of all switch logs so a full report can be complied.

We will also be planning a maintenance window to upgrade the last remaining X450 switch in BlueSquare House to the latest version, this will be announced next week.

Please note that all the time stamps given above are in GMT unless otherwise stated.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience this service outage may have caused you.”
